TARANG – Play, Create, Educate

Tarang is a Asha fun filled day of Chess and Art Competitions , with added activities such as  Lego model demonstrations,Creative Writing, Cooking and Mehandi.        This event is facilitated by Asha St. Louis as a fundraiser to educate underprivileged children in India. Asha is a 4-star Charity Navigator organization with low overheads and an outstanding non-profit charity group. To learn more about Asha, click here .

Venue:       Washington University – Lopata Hall Gallery.

Chess Tournament – 9:45AM to 12:00PM –  $10
– Conducted by Aleksey Kazakevich (Checkmate St. Louis).
Chess Simul – 12:30PM – 2:30PM – $10 
  • Simul with GM Ashwin Jayaram (Susan Polgar Institute of Chess Excellence) 
  • Grand Master (GM) Ashwin Jayaram will play against upto 20 players in a simultaneous (Simul) exhibition game.
  • Sign up early to avoid disappointment.
  • Open to children and adults.
Art Competition – 10:30AM to 12:30PM – $10. Click to see the rules. Topics will be given on the spot.

Prize categories – 1) Under 10 years  2) 10 and above

Cooking competition (Dessert) – Cook at home and bring it for judging by 11:00AM – $5
  • Rules:
    • Desert only
    • Indian or non-Indian
    • Cooked at home.Garnish and display on site.
    • Points for taste, presentation and creativity
Creative Writing Competition – Submit your writing sample by 3rd June 2016 – $5
